Good Eating Habits
It's never too soon to teach your children good eating habits. Studies have shown that four year old children will eat the same foods they did at two. There's a good chance that, as an adult, they will continue the same eating patterns. According to Gerald Berenson, MD, "By age six months, the pathology of cardiovascular disease is already percolating." Dr Berenson, the director of the Bogalusa Heart Study, believes children's diets should contain less fat and salt. The study followed 50 children the age of six months to four years, looking at their eating habits at various ages. They found that the eating habits of two year olds were continued through to the age of four. It's easier to establish good eating habits early rather than change eating habits later in life. Limiting excesses of salt, fat (particularly saturated fats), and cholesterol at an early age may prevent problems and the difficult task of a major diet change latter in life.
